Here we will review some key concepts for using the eDockets application.
eDockets basically comprises two parts – a part for creating templates and a part for using the dockets. Most of the complexity in the app comes with designing a template. The good news is that for most users, once a template is designed it can be used effortlessly on an ongoing basis with the template editor only being used tom update templates from time to time.
Diving in, first we introduce some key concepts:
- A template is the layout of a docket. It might contain static or fixed items such as a logo, address details etc. These do not change from docket to docket. A docket also contains the parts that are “filled in”. For example a receipt might fill in the date the receipt is issued, the amount received and who it was received from. These change from docket to docket.
- In the eDockets app, we call the items that appear on a docket widgets. There are four types of widget – text and image, which are fixed and input and signature, which are entered when completing the docket.
- When making a completed docket, the inputs and signatures are entered. These aren’t entered onto the docket form directly. Rather the inputs and signatures are displayed in a user friendly way to be completed by the user/customer. Those completed inputs and signatures are then inserted into the docket, together with any static text and image widgets to complete the docket and make it ready for sending.
- Dockets are sent using a device’s inherent sharing functions.
